Kindly be informed that the Association of Development Finance Institutions of Malaysia (ADFIM) will organize ADFIM Isthmus Program as stipulated above.

The ADFIM Isthmus Program has been conceived for the purpose of providing a unique training program to the staff of its member organizations that act as an arm of the public sector to accelerate and implement financial projects having both commercial and social values.

The main objectives of this program are to:

  1. Ensure personnel of ADFIM members have a holistic outlook on credit;
  2. Balancing of social responsibility and risk exposure;
  • Keeping abreast of the various developments within the Malaysian financial industry; and
  1. Industry benchmark on credit competency.

The program is not only designed for the executives from the development financial institutions but also from entrepreneur development organization (EDO) and corporate sector with development finance portfolio.

The infusion and interaction of participants from these institutions and sectors will lead to the understanding of not only the management of banking but also the operation of other industries towards an upgrading of their management and technical skills.

ADFIM Isthmus Program is designed for officers who have at least three (3) years working experience, have basic financial analysis background and have an acknowledged potential for promotion and assuring higher responsibilities.

The course fees for the 9 days program will be RM6,000.00 per participant which covers the cost of accommodation twin sharing for Module 3 only, meals, course materials, certificate of attendance and other course-related matters.

For your kind information, the objective of this specially conceptualized program is that the participants shall leave the program with the knowledge that is practical and has direct application to their job functions upon reporting back to their respective duties.

This program enlightens participants to understand basic financial documents used in business and to interpret the information in these documents and use it to manage day-to-day business activity.

At the end of the program, the participants should be able to:

  1. Increase financial literacy and financial vocabulary for business and work;
  2. Obtain a competitive edge by understanding the basic principles of accounting and fundamentals of finance and accounting including financial reporting, cost management, performance management and capital expenditure;
  • Gain greater confidence with a working knowledge of business financials;

Kindly be informed that the Association of Development Finance Institutions of Malaysia (ADFIM) in collaboration with Australian Institute of Management, Western Australia (AIM WA) will organize the APPLIED MANAGEMENT AND LEADERSHIP PROGRAM (AMLP) – DIPLOMA OF LEADERSHIP & MANAGEMENT. The details of this program are as follows:

  1. Module 1 (16,17, 18 & 19 July 2018 –IBIS Hotel, Melaka)
  2. Module 2 (28, 29 & 30 August 2018 – Berjaya Waterfront Hotel, Johor Bahru)
  3. Module 3 (22, 23 & 24 October 2018 – Grand Alora, Alor Setar)

The main objective of this program is to identify strategies for better performance management and improved productivity; identify ways to change workplace culture and develop a culture of continuous improvement; improve team performance and alignment and not least enhance communication across all levels and build positive workplace relationships.

This program is specially designed to create a return of investment (ROI) for both the organization and the individual through a highly participative learning approach and the demonstrated transfer or learning back in the workplace.

The intended participants are targeted to Middle Management/Managers working at the frontline of an organization, from supervisors and team leaders through to business unit and divisional managers with at least a minimum working experience of 3 – 5 years. Feedbacks from previous participants have been very encouraging and they strongly recommended that opportunity be given to others to attend this beneficial program as well.

The course fees for the 10 days training program will be RM18,000.00 per participant which covers accommodation, lunch, refreshments, documentation and certificate of attendance.

In addition, upon successfully completing the modules, participants will be offered an Assessment for Diploma of Leadership and Management which costs RM4,200.00 (Optional). The participating organization will determine the selection criteria and mode of payment for those who wants to sit for an assessment which to be discuss internally.

As approved by the council meeting in December 2017, the Association of Development Finance Institutions of Malaysia (ADFIM) in collaboration with Australian Institute of Management, Western Australia (AIM WA) will organize High Performers Leadership Development Program (HPLDP) as stipulated below:

Module 1/2: 13-16 August 2018 (Kuching, Sarawak)

Module 2/2: 18-21 September 2018 (AIM, Perth, Australia)

This program embraces the concept of values-driven organization and contains a wide selection of leadership development content delivered through a series of interactive workshops, relevant case studies, peer coaching and self-reflection. The HPLDP takes a holistic view of the leadership role and the competencies related to strategy, innovation, change management as well as the development of organizational, team and individual capabilities.

This program is divided into two (2) modules focusing on two (2) key skills focus areas, i.e. Commercial & Strategic Leadership and High Performance Leadership of Self and Others.

This program targets high-performing and ‘fast-track’ managers likely to become the next generation of senior leaders, or high achievers and managers currently in the succession plan having the potential to achieve senior leadership roles. Ideally, they will have approximately 5-10 years’ work experience with management responsibilities (leading teams and resources) and have been identified to play a strategic role in their organizations.

The course fees for the 8 days program will be RM16,500.00 per participant (exclude flight tickets, airport transfers & accommodation).

International CEO Forum, 24 – 26 October 2017

International CEO Forum, 2017

 ADFIM with collaboration with ADFIAP and AADFI will organize International CEO Forum 2017 from 24 – 26 October 2017. The InterContinental Hotel Kuala Lumpur, has been chosen as the forum venue.

This International CEO Forum 2017 is a great platform to exchange views, knowledge and experience to strengthen ties amongst the participating Development Financial Institutions.  Is also an avenue for entrepreneur development organizations and government & corporate agencies to enhance the development of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in each member country.  The theme for this year forum is “Sustaining Economic Growth with Social Consciences – Modalities of the New Era” for 2017 forum.  Attached is the tentative program for the forum.

This forum is organized in a way that will allow delegates to learn from each other’s experiences through speaker presentations of best practices and challenges on the same theme and through personal interaction among delegates and speakers.

Familiarization tour on the Nasional SME Development in Malaysia on 10 – 14 July 2017

This program is being co-organise between the Association of Development Financing Institutions in Asia and the Pacific (ADFIAP) and ADFIM, from 10 to 14 July 2017.

Overall objective of Study visit:

The objective of the program is to provide an opportunity for participants to learn best practices of specialized DFIs/financial institutions in Malaysia whose mandates include entrepreneurship development & extension of loans and other financial facilities/services to SMEs.

The delegation would be able to learn the following areas from the respective DFIs, (SME Bank, BNM, Bank Pembangunan Malaysia, Tekun Nasional, Bursa Malaysia, Agro Bank, Credit Guarantee Corporation and Perbadanan Nasional Berhad) as follows:

  1. To learn from the experiences of successful Banks for economic development;
  2. To identify the best practices concerning economic development and SMEs financing; and
  3. Adapt DFIs strategy on these best practices.

A total of 10 participants are expected to take part in the familiarization tour.

Applied Management Leadership Program (AMLP) – 2017

Association of Development Finance Institutions of Malaysia (ADFIM) in collaboration with Australian Institute of Management, Western Australia (AIM) has organized two out of three modules of Applied Management Leadership Program (AMLP) as stipulated below:

1.  Module I (25 – 27 April 2017) Melaka.  Theme “Plan and Executive the Future”

2.  Module II (16 – 19 May 2017) Kuantan.  Theme “Optimise People and Performances”

For Module III will be organize from 17 -19 July 2017 in Pulau Pinang.

The AMLP continues to remain as ADFIM’s top training program that is open exclusively to all its members.  This is the third year that the AMLP is being conducted by ADFIM in collaboration with the Australia Institute of Management, Western Australia (AIM WA).  The overall objective of the AMLP is to obtain and enhance each one skill which is beneficial to all participants and their organization.

Similar to the previous year programs, this year program is divided into three separate modules of 4 days for Module I and II and 3 days for Module III.  Facilitated by Mr. Norman Venus, the Associate Director of International Programme of AIM WA.  He is also the trainer for the first module for AMLP since in 2015.

This year program was attended by a total of 13 participants with five participants from Bank Rakyat, two participants from EXIM Bank, PNS, SME Bank and PUNB respectively.  The position level and working experience of the participant vary ranging from Senior Executive to Assistant Vice President.

Introduction

This 2 days’ facilitator led course will focus on sharing best practices in risk management, expectations of regulatory bodies and issues surrounding risk management practices. Participants are expected to share the issues surrounding risk management through mini workshop/ case studies and interactive group discussions.

Objective

  1. Enable management to manage day-to-day business operations consistent with the appropriate risk strategies;
  2. Support the development of a sound risk management framework that is effective for controlling risk-taking activities by putting in place effective risk management tools and internal controls;
  3. Enhance the resources’ skills and knowledge in risk management for effective implementation of the risk management framework;
  4. Elevate the Boards’ ability in performing risk oversight function; and
  5. Promote the DFIs’ safety and soundness in serving the strategic sectors in a sustainable manner.

Facilitator

MR. CHOO YEE KWAN retired in July 2014 after having served the banking and risk management industry for 38 years. His last post was as Country Chief Risk Officer for OCBC Bank (Malaysia) Berhad, having first joined the OCBC Group in December 2007. He had also served as the Alternate to the Chief Executive Officer of OCBC Bank (Malaysia) Berhad. He currently serves as an Independent Non-Executive Director of HSBC Bank Malaysia Berhad as its Chairman of the Risk Committee.
